<Alumni>The Arizona State University Foundation appointed Mr. Hiroshi Hamada to its board of directors!

We are proud to announce that The Arizona State University Foundation for A New American University appointed two accomplished alumni to its board of directors.

Hiroshi Hamada ’91 Master of International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management at ASU and an ASU parent, and Michael L. Aguirre, ’00 BA in history, ’02 MEd, ’05 JD, joined the board.

“We are thrilled to have Hiroshi and Michael join our board of directors,” said ASU Foundation CEO Gretchen Buhlig. “Their ASU experiences and industry leadership will provide valuable insight to the board as we grow the foundation.”

The ASU Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization that raises and manages private contributions for ASU to ensure as many people as possible have a chance at a better life through its resource-raising efforts.

The ASU Foundation board of directors establishes the policies and annual goals for the foundation, oversees fiduciary responsibilities management of ASU’s endowment and investments.

Hamada, chief counselor of Japan’s largest mortgage bank ARUHI Corporation, has served in several leadership roles during his career including CEO and Chairman of the Board for ARUHI Corporation, COO at HOYA Corporation and Japan president of Dell Technologies. He earned a BA in literature from Waseda University.

He is a former co-chair of the Thunderbird Global Alumni Network advisory council and remains an active member. Thunderbird’s first center of excellence in Tokyo launched in 2017 thanks to Hamada’s generosity and support. He is recognized as a new founder of Thunderbird at ASU, a circle of 20 donors who helped make Thunderbird’s new global headquarters in downtown Phoenix possible.
